About Us And Faq
The Green Berry was founded August 7, 2015 by owner Jen in small, quaint, Downtown Irwin. Over the last few years, we have grown! The support from our community and surrounding communities has been incredible. The need for a nutritious place to eat was and is still so needed.
We do our absolute best in using only the best quality ingredients from local farms, farms practicing sustainable farming methods and USDA organic produce. All menu items (with an exception of our Saturday morning spelt flour vegan pancakes) are gluten, wheat, soy, dairy and corn free. All of our almond milk is made in house, along with our gluten free granola! We think this is pretty darn special.
So much love goes into each and every item on our menu. We pride ourselves on customer satisfaction and appreciate every single person who has ever walked through our door. We hope to add more menu items as we grow!
FAQ
Is your juice cold pressed?
YES! Though very time consuming and labor intensive, we believe that cold pressed juice is the best tasting and you get the most nutrients from this method.
Do you use organic produce?
Below is a list of our organic produce. On the rare occasion that we cannot source organic from our vendor because of things beyond our control or seasonal availability, we do substitute for conventional.
Organic produce: Cucumbers, celery, apples, bananas, kale, spinach, chard, cilantro, basil, ginger, cabbage, beets, carrots, frozen mango, frozen pineapple, frozen cherries, dates, cauliflower, broccoli, onion, sweet potatoes.
Sustainably Farmed produce: (Stahlbush Farms, please see their website for more information www.stahlbush.com) Frozen blueberries, frozen strawberries, frozen red raspberries
Conventional produce: oranges, grapefruit, lemons, pineapple, avocados, mango, starfruit, pomegranate, kiwi.
Do you offer juice cleanses?
Yes! Our juice cleanse comes with 6 bottles of 16 oz juice and the cost is $58 per day. 1, 2 or 3 days are available. 24 hour notice is required as our juice is cold pressed and takes time to make. Please call us to place your order! The following juices are included:
1. Celery juice
2. Treehugger- kale, celery, apple, cucumber, lemon and ginger
3. Sunshine Burst - orange, grapefruit, lime and ginger
4. Grasshopper- pineapple, chard, spinach, apple, cucumber
5. Hydrator- coconut water, lemon, pineapple, aloe, cucumber
6. Unicorn Wings- parsley, spinach, apple, cucumber, lemon
When cleansing, celery juice is most important as juice number one and should be consumed first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. With an exception of the sunshine burst, all of the juices are green for the purpose of the high amounts of chlorophyll found in green vegetables and leafy greens. Chlorophyll is one of the best things for cleansing the blood and cells. You should drink one juice every two hours and drink water in between. If you would like to eat, you can! The purpose of cleansing is to flood your body and cells with as many micro nutrients as possible, not to starve yourself. If you feel hungry while doing a juice cleanse, please eat! Just make sure you are only eating fruits, veggies and spices, raw or cooked, veggie soup is fine as long as you are making from scratch with clean ingredients. Please ask for more info if needed!!
Are you a gluten free facility?
No. We use spelt flour in our pancake batter for our Saturday morning pancakes. Our muffins are gluten free and made with organic gluten free oat flour. All of our soups are gluten and dairy free.
What about dairy?
We use two dairy products. Kerrygold butter in our smart coffee and pancakes. Whey protein powder as an optional add in for smoothies. All of our smoothies are dairy free unless you add whey.
What are the ingredients in your almond milk?
All of our almond milk is made in house using almonds, dates and water...that's it! We make milk on a daily basis and it is available on our website for purchase.
